Tashi Nyima is the spiritual director of the New Jonang Buddhist Community in Dallas, TX. Born and raised in the West Indies, he pursued his early education with the Dominican and Jesuit fathers of the Roman Catholic Church. Later he practiced and taught medicine and public health in Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and Massachusetts. An ordained monastic in the Jonang lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Tashi-la is the heart-son of Kyabje Tashi Norbu Rinpoche, from whom he received the full transmission of the Great Middle Way. Tashi has studied and completed extensive retreats under eminent teachers of various Dharma lineages, including Lama Tsering Ngodup (Kagyu), HH the XIV Dalai Lama (Geluk), Kenchen Thrangu Rinpoche (Kagyu), Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche (Nyingma), HH Sakya Trizin (Sakya), and HH Tashi Gyaltsan Rinpoche (Jonang). He is also a Board Member of Dharma Voices for Animals.
