Instructors
Maryella Matthews is a yoga instructor at Above and Beyond Yoga studio in Mobile. She has been teaching various styles of yoga for more than five years. She has trained with Sri Dharma Mittra master teachers and learned the Surya Namaskar vinyasa flow, and recently completed her Hatha Yoga Teacher training. Maryella is a level 2 Reiki practitioner. "I enjoy weaving sound therapy into my yoga classes because I believe it helps restore a sense of wellbeing."

Ashley Black has been meditating regularly since 2019, when she moved from Huntsville to Mobile, AL. Ashley has been a nurse for 20 years and has a bachelor's degree in metaphysical science from the University of Sedona. Ashley is a Certified Mindfulness & Meditation Trainer from World Peace Initiative and Sound Bath Practitioner. She is passionate about spreading inner peace and helping individuals achieve their highest potential through positive self transformation.

Kent Welsh, Ph.D. is a retired clinical psychologist in Mobile. He began meditating in the early 1970’s and has taught relaxation and meditation techniques to numerous individuals and groups over the years. Kent began meditating at the Meditation Center of Alabama in early 2010 and has been a regular member of the meditation group there.
Cay Welsh, Ph.D. is a retired clinical psychologist who earned her graduate degrees at the University of Alabama and completed her internship at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She has been a faculty member at several universities and retired from the University of South Alabama after more than 30 years as Director of the Psychology Clinic. Her professional training and experience has included the use of relaxation, biofeedback, hypnosis and mindfulness as a component of psychotherapy & behavior change. |
